Finish High School With The Help of a Government Grant
from: Kyle BesserIn today's fast-paced and competitive world, not having an education is foolish and career suicide. College graduates make anywhere from 40% to 200% more than those who have only graduated from high school. Getting a higher education is a given when seeking a more lucrative and successful career.
Unfortunately, one of the biggest hindrances to this rise to success is the fact that education costs money. Not everyone has enough money for their daily basic needs much less high school or college tuition. Going to a public high school can definitely keep the costs low, but there are those who seek to obtain better education or even support for their public high school education through education grants.
Fortunately, the government also puts a premium on education and has earmarked a good amount of the federal budget towards helping qualified students obtain financing for education through education grants. Education grants are a great way to help alleviate some of the financial burden an education involves.
Government Grants
Government grants are made available every year through the Annual Federal Budget. The Annual Federal Budget allocates a good deal of money for various government agencies toward projects and grants. Government grant projects become available to the agencies once the budget is made available to them. Various government grants will then be offered to those who qualify for certain projects.
These government grants will become available on the CFDA, or the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. This would be a good place to look for a government grants that fits your qualifications.
The great thing about government grants is that they are non-taxable, and you do not have to pay for them. There are an estimated 1,500 government grant programs aimed at helping qualified students afford an education.
There are various government grants aimed at helping students get through both high school and college. There are even government grants that will get you through graduate programs. Government grants to deal with homeless veterans, continuing education programs, home building grants, and grants that help veterans with their jobs, such as job training grants, are a few of the examples of available government grants.
You should then apply for a FAFSA, or the Free Application for Student Financial Aid. This application will make you eligible for a Pell Grant. The amount this government grant offer depends on your current financial situation, your dependents, and other considerations.
Finding a Grant
There are a lot of ways through which you can find government grants for your educational needs. The best place to start would be log on to http://www.cfda.gov to find a comprehensive and complete listing of government grants. Look specifically for government grants that pertain to your profile.
Aside from government grants there are tens of thousands of other education grants offered by each state, by private foundations, and by other non-profit organizations. A good way to find these education grants would be to consult with some local education officials or search on the internet.
Make sure you qualify for the education grants you have chosen. The basic qualifications for a person to apply for education grants is that he or she must be a legal citizen of the United States and should also belong to a household that pays taxes. There may be slight alterations to this basic requirement for some education grants.
