Therapeutic massage therapy is one of the many branches of the healing arts. Those seeking a career in massage therapy must first become certified through an accredited program to become licensed in their state of practice. After that, massage therapy practitioners must take massage therapy continuing education classes to keep their license.

The following are some examples of courses of study that a massage therapy practitioner may find in assage therapy continuing education:

*Boundary training - developing a scope of practice that sets boundaries between the massage therapy practitioner and the patient

*Ethics - managing clinical dilemmas, reporting abuse and insurance billing

*Licensing - state and local regulations requirements

*Ergonomics - proper techniques and equipment

*Rehabilitation - working with shoulder injuries, sports medicine and massage

*Anatomy - recognizing major muscle groups and structure, tendons and range of movement
